Research interests

Our group is focused on creating models of lung and neural tissues and related diseases. Research includes the development of: (i) tissue models; (ii) engineered 3D cell culture platforms; (iii) tools to study stem cell differentiation and how cells communicate; (iv) 3D bioprinting of stem cells and hydrogels; (v) microfluidic systems for long-term 3D cultivation and studies of tissue morphogenesis. As excellent developmental model we utilize human embryonic stem cells and their derivatives as well as pluripotent stem cells induced from primary cells of patients. We are targeting unresolved aspects of tissue formation, cell-cell and cell-ECM interactions, stem cell biology & differentiation utilizing state-of-the-art instrumentation, molecular and cell biology, histochemistry and cell imaging.
